New partnerships to better serve men in Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Canterbury

Over the past several months New Zealand Men's Group Network has formed connections with several organisations to better serve men in more regions across NZ, and to connect men to men's groups in Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Canterbury. We'd like to give a big shout out to some of those who are working alongside us to help make men's work thrive in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Essentially Men

We've partnered with Essentially Men to help connect men in Northland, Auckland and Waikato to men's groups and events.

Essentially Men is a community dedicated to connecting and empowering men across New Zealand. Rooted in a uniquely Kiwi approach, they embrace diversity and provide a safe, supportive space where men of all backgrounds can explore personal growth. EM's ethos is built on men supporting men, fostering stronger connections within families and communities.

The organisation offers transformative workshops designed to help men deepen their self-awareness, navigate life’s challenges, and unlock their full potential. Essentially Men's experiential programs welcome all men, whether life is going well or you're facing struggles, questioning your identity, or seeking a renewed sense of purpose.

EM's starting workshop is called Men Being Real and starts with building a safe/trusting container for the weekend so that men can find their voice, break their isolation, tell their story and increase their emotional capacity.

Essentially Men has run 133 Men Being Real workshops which has led to the formation of 133 men’s groups. They operate mainly in Auckland, Northland and Waikato but have men coming from all over NZ (and occasionally overseas) to attend a workshop.

Bear Heart describes himself as a guide into soulful living -- becoming brighter, more authentic and connected people. Through Bear's work you’ll learn the essential skills to tend the garden of your unique life, and how to grow the fruit that sustains your sense of belonging.

Bear is a counsellor with a focus on men's work, leading events and groups in the Christchurch area.

Bear's work gathers men together to practice a new culture of honesty, depth, connection and expression through regular closed group men’s circles, deep-dive weekend retreats (The Man I Am), public community gatherings (HeartBeat) and Rites of Passage ceremony (GMMT).

"Connection is the glue that holds this all together, so we genuinely get to know each other and make a point of having loads of fun together. Men’s work isn’t all just deep and emotional, it’s also silly, playful and full of creativity."

Bros

BROS is a collective with a mission to restore the vitality of men, cultivating generations of healthy, honest masculinity.

Hero bros

In today’s world, men are often disconnected both from their own emotional process, and from a sense of belonging and greater purpose. Through creating the space for connection, and providing the tools for reaching into the depths, BROS exists as the medicine and inspiration for modern men looking for alternative methods of coming into alignment with their highest self. Our inter-generational community extends beyond just the men, to partners, children, extended whānau, friends, colleagues, communities, and more. These connections are the reason for the work BROS is engaged in.

BROS focusses on in-person events and also online groups that are open for all men to join.

How do I join a men's group?

If you are interested in joining a group (or checking one out causally) get in touch with the group directly — using the contact info at the bottom of each listing.

If the group has space, you will be invited to attend a meeting to check it out. The group will welcome you, and will explain and demonstrate how things work.

If more than one group exists in your area, feel free to try two or more to find the best long-term fit for you.
